Abstract
Higher Ed is failing in its mission to create global mobility at a reasonable cost. We suggest that the best “quick fix” revolves around the improvement of instructional practices. Effective planning is scarce in the classroom but should be the norm.
Our diverse panelists share learning strategies to change the operations of the college classroom. The session will emphasize creating a safe and active learning environment, maximizing face time for “content monsters”, benefiting from student perception data, capitalizing on technology, and reliance on research literature in these endeavors. You will be engaged and challenged to think, share and evaluate ideas. You will leave with a deeper understanding of the role of careful planning for student conceptual growth; an increased appreciation for possibilities in the transformation of college instruction (based on research); and a set of innovations that can be applied to your classrooms. It’s an INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP: bring your technology!
